Exploration History
- 1955: High Lake deposit is discovered by Kennarctic Exploration
- 1957: 7,149 meters of drilling at High Lake leads to a historic resource estimate of 3.57 million ounces at 4.02% copper
- 1963: Regional mapping is completed by the GSC
- 1984: BHP stakes the Grumpy claim to protect a large auriferous arsenopyrite-rich quartz vein, the first reported gold showing in the High Lake Greenstone Belt
- 1989: BHP discover the Cygnet and Roma Main gold showings after collecting 25.4 g/t gold and 9.57 g/t gold grab samples, respectively. BHP stakes the Cygnet and Roma claims.
- 1991: BHP drills 10 holes for a total of 465 meters in Roma Main gold showing. All holes intercepted the targeted vein, which graded 12.38 g/t Au over 2.31 m (including 64.0 g/t Au over 0.37 m)
- 1992: BHP discovers the Bamako showing (later renamed Auma by Blue Star)
- 1993: BHP stake additional Roma claims, the GSC completes an updated regional mapping program
- 1994: The discovery of diamond-bearing kimberlite at Lac des Gras results in blanket staking of all remaining mineral rights in the High Lake Belt
- 1995: BHP drills Auma with 328 meters over 6 holes, returning up to 15.3 g/t gold over 2.6 meters
- 2001: Wolfden acquires the High Lake deposit and conducts extensive drilling
- 2005: Wolfden publishes a NI43-101 compliant resource estimate of High Lake with an Indicated Resource of 14.3 million tonnes grading 2.34% copper, 3.53% zinc, 1.01 g/t gold and 75.69 g/t silver and an Inferred Resource of 1.3 million tonnes grading 1.17% copper, 3.35% zinc, 0.78% g/t gold and 764.52 g/t silver
- 2021: Blue Star acquires Roma Crown, Cygnet and Roma MEA claims, conducts three regional till sampling lines
- 2022: Blue Star acquires additional Roma Crown claims, extending holdings to the south, and completes regional till sampling program using Portable PPB detectOREâ„¢ technology
- 2023: Blue Star acquires Auma and confirms historical surface sample grades with a 47.6 g/t gold grab sample, Ataani claim is acquired late 2023
- 2024: Blue Star completes 5 drill holes at Ataani, intercepting massive sulphide mineralization in all holes. Several pipeline targets receive prospecting and mapping follow up work. Prospecting and infill till lines are completed over a 2022 till anomaly, resulting in the identification of arsenopyrite-bearing quartz veins
